Dr. T. Brajakumar Singh is presently serving as the Director, Department of Environment and Climate Change, Government of Manipur. In addition to his primary responsibilities, he has been entrusted with several key statutory and administrative assignments as the Nodal Officer and member of various State Government committees and initiatives. His major additional responsibilities include serving as the Nodal Officer for Environmental Clearances of developmental projects under the provisions of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 and the rules framed thereunder. He is also the Nodal Officer for the implementation of the Social Impact Assessment process under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Social Impact Assessment and Consent) (Manipur) Rules, 2014. Further, he serves as the Environment Expert Member of the State Level Committee constituted under the Manipur Conservation of Paddy Land Act, 2014. Dr. Singh has also been designated as the Nodal Officer for the Composite Water Management Index, responsible for coordinating and liaising with the NITI Aayog, Government of India, on all matters relating to the Water Management Index. In addition, he currently oversees several important initiatives of the Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department, Government of Manipur. These include the State Environmental Monitoring Research and Development Laboratory, the State Climate Change Cell, environmental clearance processes, environmental impact studies, preparation of Action Plans for the Rejuvenation of Polluted Rivers in Manipur, preparation of District Environment Plans and the State Environment Plan, and preparation of Action Plans for the Rejuvenation of Water Bodies across the State. Dr. Singh also serves as the Convenor of the Technical Committee of the State Wetlands Authority, Manipur, where he provides technical guidance and coordination for the conservation, management, and sustainable use of wetlands in the State. Through these diverse assignments, Dr. Singh plays a pivotal role in advancing environmental governance, climate resilience, sustainable natural resource management, and ecological conservation in the State of Manipur.
